Composing quality comments

The next part of our blog project is leaving comments on other people’s blogs. Commenting on blog posts allows reading to become participatory. The reader can converse with the writer. This expands blogging from writing to conversation.

Before leaving comments, check out this blog post and video from Mrs. Yollis’ Class Blog called, “How to Compose a Quality Comment”.

It is important to say something substantial in your comment. Please do not merely say, “Great job” or “Nice picture”. If you like something, say why. Make a connection from your experience. Add your knowledge to the conversation. It’s also OK to politely disagree with an opinion and state your own. Do not merely criticize. Do not make personal attacks.

Try to comment substantially on 5 other “About Me” blog posts. Get a conversation going.

From this point forward, we will need to balance our blogging time between new posts, comments on other blogs, and replies to comments left on your blog.

Happy Blogging!
